Actraiser -Super NES- 8

I just finished Actraiser for Super Nintendo! I’ve been meaning to play this game for literally thirty years, and I finally got around to it this past week. (I bought the cib last year.) The game was very different from any other action game I’ve ever played in that it combines action swordplay segments with civilization/town building segments. I used a YouTube walkthrough (U Can Beat Videogames) to help me at first, because this game is a bit cryptic. Once you do understand what to do and how the game is supposed to flow, it is fun. And it is challenging, but leveling up during the city-building segments is key to powering up your character during the action segments. The soundtrack is very good and fits the epic tone of the game. Some fans absolutely adore this game. It is unlike any game I’ve played on the Snes, and I commend it for its fresh ideas and concepts. I’m giving ActRaiser a strong 8 out of ten. It’s not quite one of my top tier favorites, but it is really good and one of the best early-release Snes titles.
