I just finished Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for the DS. This is the direct sequel to the wonderful Aria of Sorrow on the GBA, and it was longer and more challenging than I remember Aria being. The bosses were all very difficult and very satisfying to conquer. I loved the variety of souls to capture and use, and it provided a lot of depth to the combat. The puppet throwing was especially unique and useful. The soundtrack was excellent, as it usually is from this series, with some remixes of some of my old favorites from previous games. This one felt much longer to beat than Aria of Sorrow and Circle of the Moon, which I gave 9’s. I am going to give Dawn of Sorrow a 9 out of ten, as well. It follows the formula established in Symphony of the Night, but it’s a winning formula, and a fine example of the genre. This was probably the best of the portable Castlevania games I’ve played.
