Crisis Force -Famicom- 8.5

April 6, 2023

I just knocked out Crisis Force on both easy and normal modes, back to back. This shmup came out for the Japanese Famicom in 1991, but never made it here to the NES. It’s a shame, because this game is really impressive for an 8bit title. The graphics are incredible, but there are occasional points of slow down. This pushes the Famicom to its limits. The weapon and upgrade system are simple, but fun. You can switch between three different shooting modes, each with their own special attacks. There is also a two player mode, which is rare for an early-gen shmup. It’s a little short, and a little easy compared to other shmups, but I don’t mind. I already want to play it again on 2 player mode. It’s really fun, and gets really intense. I’m giving Crisis Force an 8.5 out of ten.
