I just beat Dead Space Extraction (bought it a year and a half ago and never touched it until now!). Anyway, at first I was unsure how a light gun game would fit with the Dead Space franchise, but the more I played, the more I loved it. The storytelling and characters were really good, and reminded me of the Aliens movie. I think the facial expressions during the dialogue segments really elevate the emotion here. At first, the game feels restrictive, as it is a light gun game and you don’t get to explore the levels freely. But this lends itself to different strategy in that you have to be quick with snatching upgrades and ammo that appear briefly on screen. The frequent fire fights with the enemies are great fun, too. The creepy atmosphere is spot on, making this fit perfectly as a prequel to Dead Space 1&2. I think I’m going to give this an 8. It’s probably the best first person light gun game I’ve ever played, even though I have not played many. The storytelling, characters, and atmosphere really pushed it to heights I have not ever seen from the genre. I couldn’t put it down once I got started.
