Guilty Gear Strive -PS5- 9.5

I just beat the arcade mode of Guilty Gear Strive with Sol Badguy, but I am by no means done with the game. According to my PlayStation profile, I’ve only put about eight hours into the game so far, and I feel like I’m just starting to get the hang of things. I am pretty casual when it comes to competitive fighting games, but I have to say this game is really impressive. I’ve never played a Guilty Gear game before, and I hear that this entry does a good job of introducing newbies to the series. It’s been great for me so far. When I started, I immediately jumped online and got my butt kicked constantly. But over the last couple days, I’ve put some time into training and mission mode, and I noticed my skills getting better. I made through arcade mode just now without losing a single match. (It said “route hard” as I was playing, but I didn’t see a difficulty setting in the options menu.) This game is very fast paced, and there is a lot to learn. But chaining together combos feels really fluid and rewarding. The anime style graphics here are absolutely stunning, and the music is cool, too. This game is gorgeous and just plain badass. And the fighting and controls just feel right. Based on my limited playtime so far, this game is easily worth a 9.5 out of ten. It’s probably the best 2D fighter I have played since Third Strike! I’m going to have to keep dedicating time to getting good, so I can start winning some matches against the bullies playing online, lol.
