I did it! I reached the 10th and final ending of Hades! Such a great, addicting game. And I can continue playing. There is so much content and story to still explore. It feels like infinite possibilities. I beat Hades the first time a year ago rated it a 9, but I think I’m going to bump that score to a 9.5. It really is a deep, wonderful game. Oh, and for the record…The game says I made 70 attempts to escape, but there were at least a dozen times where I selected “give up” in the middle of a run to start over. And my PlayStation profile says that I put 42 hours into the game, but I’ve noticed those counters are not always accurate.

So I finally sat down and started seriously playing Hades last Sunday, and it’s all I have been playing everyday since! This game is dangerously addicting. And I just beat Hades himself for the first time just now. Took me 49 attempts. Wow. This was actually the first “roguelike” I’ve ever really gotten into. I played a few hours of Returnal and Dead Cells a few months ago, but they were a little tough for me to understand what I was doing, being the “roguelike” noob that I was. Hades seemed to do a better job of introducing me to the genre. (And I’ll play those other games again later, now that I have a better idea of what to do.) Anyway, my understanding is that I have to beat Hades nine more times to see the true ending, but for now, I think I’m ready for a break. This game has consumed me for a full week now, lol. But yes, it’s great. I’d definitely give it a 9, for how deep and varied the upgrades are, how fast and fun the combat is, and how the game gives you a great sense of purpose with trying to find your mom. The way you incrementally improve your character each run kept me coming back for more. The voice actors also add a lot of personality to the characters. Dying a lot could have been frustrating, but you kept about half the stuff you collected during a run, and lost the other half. It seems like other roguelikes don’t let you keep as much after you die…another reason why this game seemed to ease me into the genre better than other games. I loved it. Eventually, I’ll have to unlock the 10th ending.
