Magical Pop’n -Super Famicom- 8.5

This afternoon, I beat Magical Pop’n for the Super Famicom. It was a little tough finding the time, because there’s no save feature. You have to beat the whole game all at once. Anyway, I thought it was really good. There are light Metroidvania elements that add a lot to the action. As you get further into the game, the platforming gets more challenging, and the music gets progressively better. The animation in this game is nice, too, and the controls are tight. Overall a very good hidden gem that we never got here in the United States. 8.5 out of ten. If you like cutesy anime games like Popful Mail and Shantae, this is just like those.
