Metroid Dread -Switch- 9.5

I just beat Metroid Dread, and I was extremely impressed with it. I didn’t think they could make something so great with the old formula that was basically 26 years old, but it’s just a damn near perfect example of the genre. And they do a good job of mixing up what you expect from a Metroid game (it’s a couple hours before you even get the morph ball). And there are plenty of new tools and weapons that I haven’t seen in this series before. The graphics didn’t look high-tech when I first saw the game, but the artistry behind the level design is just beautiful. And let me tell you, this game is HARD. Some of the bosses towards the end were quite the challenge. The controls in this game are silky smooth, and you’re going to need them to react to these bosses. Thank god when you die, you just go back a couple rooms. It’s not like before when you go back to a save room. Oh yeah, and the final boss and section of the game are absolutely epic. I think I’m going to have to give this a 9.5, which is more than I thought i would give at first, but it’s just that damn good. For reference, I give the original, super, and first prime 10’s; and I give fusion, zero mission and prime 2 all 8.5’s. I haven’t played the others yet (like prime 3 or other m). Oh, and one more thing I forgot to mention…this game does NOT feel too short. It felt just right to me. It’s a more sizable game than you might think, and it’s tight package with no filler. Go buy this game if you have a switch.
