Finally ran through spiderman for PS4 this week. This one really took me by surprise! I was starting to get burnt out on open world games, but my god, the web slinging in this game was perfectly done. Traveling around the city was a lot of fun, and the side stuff was always very brief to finish. This game is very fast paced and very addicting. At first, I was unsure about the combat system because it’s inspired by Prince of Persia’s. But the more I played, I saw how much tighter and faster it was than the old system. And the dodging reminds me of Nier Automata, which has great combat. Getting new updrades helped expand the depth, too. And the stealth segments were very well done. Now, let’s talk story... Very wise choice to skip the origin a story with Uncle Ben, and start with Mary Jane and Peter already broken up from being in a previous relationship. We’ve seen all that too many times before, so I’m glad they skipped it. The rest of the overall story was very well done, with a lot of tense action sequences and high stakes. I loved it. And the ending took balls. I can’t wait to see where they go with a potential sequel. I’d probably give the game an 8.5.
