The Firemen -Super Famicom- 8

I just beat The Firemen for the Super Famicom on beginner mode. This is one I’ve been curious to play for a couple years now. It’s the only other famous game about firefighters besides Burning Rangers that I can think of. Much like Burning Rangers, it’s quite short. But the replay value is high here. I just tried normal mode right after finishing beginner mode, and I only made it part way through Stage 5. This feels like it would make a great game for speed running. It’s actually fun, because your reactions have to be quick with all the different types of fire hazards coming at you. The overhead view and the water shooting reminds me a little bit of Zombies Ate My Neighbors, another snes classic. Despite being short, I think this game wins big points for originality, replay value, and challenge on normal mode (beginner is a little too easy, but it’s good for your first playthrough, like I just did). I think I’ll nudge this one an 8 out of ten. It’s one of the little gems we never got here in the United States on the Super Nintendo.
