I just finished Kena Bridge of Spirits for ps5. The graphics in this one are gorgeous with an art style that looks just like a Pixar movie. Kena also plays like a Zelda game, with similar controls, combat, and puzzles to solve. You would wonder how this was an indie game and not a triple A game…except for how short and linear the whole thing is. Kena was pretty good overall, but definitely had some weaknesses. The world looks like a vast place to explore like Breath of the Wild, but you will be a surprised how small the world really is when you get about half way through the game. And it’s not open like BotW. It’s very linear. Much more linear than even Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time. And about the difficulty…easy mode is way too easy, and normal mode is extremely frustrating during the boss fights. I kept switching between the two, which thankfully the game lets you do in between checkpoints. Anyway, this was still an amazing effort for an indie game, but just imagine what they could do with a sequel with a triple A budget. I think that could be something truly outstanding. For this game, though, I think I’m going to show some tough love and give it a 7. I enjoyed it very much, and the groundwork for a potential masterpiece is here. They just need to expand upon it in the sequel.
