The Order 1886 -PS4- 8

October 28, 2022

The Order 1886 was an early ps4 game that got really mediocre reviews from critics, but I still wanted to try it out because it looked cool. Well, I just beat the game and I loved it! First of all, I heard many people say it was too short and takes four to five to beat. That is a bold faced lie! It took me no less than twice that long (eight or nine hours) to beat on normal difficulty. I loved that the game takes place in 19th century London, but with certain technology being really advanced. I loved that the story mixes real life history and characters with horror fantasy. The plot itself seemed slow at first, but got really good towards the end with some cool plot twists involving certain characters revealing themselves to be werewolves or certain historical figures. And the gameplay…I loved the quicktime events during the cutscenes and the stealth segments that required the right timing to stab people. And the shooting segments, which took up the bulk of the gameplay, were awesome. Tons of crazy guns to use, big fire fights, long range sniper shots, up close kills…maybe there were a lot of third person cover&shoot games after Gears of War, but the shooting here still felt tight. And my god, the graphics… This was an early release ps4 title, but it looks like a freaking ps5 game! You can’t tell the difference between in-engine gameplay and cutscenes! Call me crazy, but I’m giving The Order 1886 an 8 out of ten. This is another super underrated little gem like “Remember Me” on the ps3.
